DJ Culture: Jamie Stenhouse

Edinburgh DJ Jamie Stenhouse, known simply as Stennie, is one of the residents at tonight’s Elements Christmas Party at The Lane. His warm up set for Koen Groneveld blew the roof off clubland earlier this year, his scratch techniques and groovy tech house soundtrack marking him as one to watch.

What is this month’s floor filler?
Angy Kore’s Mekkano, the Original Mix. It’s a wee funky tech house number that never fails.

Who was/is your DJ guru/inspiration?
My DJ guru and inspiration has to be Eddie Halliewell, for his energy behind the decks and his technical ability. The guy’s a legend.

What was your most banging Edinburgh gig ever?
Elements at The Lane (where I’ll be DJing tonight). There’s a good bunch of folk there.

What was the first track you ever bought, no matter how embarrassing?
Scott Brown - Now Is The Time... on vinyl. He hee.

Favourite all time track?
I don’t really have a favourite all time track as there really are too many to pick from, but Sunlounger’s Lost is a great trance tune, I really like it... or Ramon Tapia’s Minijack. It’s a belter of a tech house number.

Elements @ The Lane, Queensferry Street Lane, tonight, 10.30pm-3pm, £5 b4 11pm/£6 after, 0131 629 9891
