Substance vs. I Love Acid @ The Store

EDINBURGH’S underground techno club Substance joins forces with London outfit I Love Acid on Saturday. Expect a mix and match night of techno and electronica. Substance co-organiser Adam Richardson explains, “Basically we are hooking up with the guys from London’s I Love Acid who run a really cool party based on a similar principle to our own.” That principle is simple: bring together an up-for-it crowd and create a blinding party which isn’t ruled by the latest fads in electronic/dance music.

Saturday night will see a mixture of musical styles filling the dancefloor, drawn from each club’s individual tastes. The result, promises Richardson, will be “a right good old rave-up.” No big names, he adds, instead a roster of four guest DJs will play live sets . “It will be quality from start to finish,” insists Richardson.

The night will kick off with uber cool Coloruid and Cynthia Stern, from Sweden, taking to the decks to offer the best in wonky techno and electro. Next up will be Global Goon, with his deep and dark acid/off-the-wall electronica. The duo Posthuman will bring glitchy dubstep infused techno to the
evening. Finally, residents Wolfjazz and Substance’s other Richardson, Gavin, will finish the night off with a furious finale
